Dale Hollow Winery 2.0
Now that construction has started, we’ve had a number of questions on what the completed project will look like. Since this will happen in phases, we thought it would be easiest to show a computer rendition- which can be put together way faster than an actual building. So, without further adieu, move..that..bus!!
The first photo shows the view you will see when you pull into the parking lot. The first phase of the construction project is the production facility (where the large garage door is) and we hope to have it completed within the next few weeks in order to process this year’s harvest.
The second photo is a view from the south side- we will have a fancy new “windowed” garage door on the bottom level to let more light in, and up the hill a bit where the brown garage door is will be the crush pad. This is where we will process harvest grapes- crush/destem and press. From the pad, juice and grapes will go into the building for fermentation and ageing.
The second phase of the project is to take the roof off the current winery, add a second story to the existing structure, and connect the roofline with the new production facility with walk-in doors between the buildings. We hope to have this finished by late fall. The crew will be gone for a period of time between phase 1 and 2, and it will look a little funny in that timeframe; but rest assured it will look much different once it’s all complete!
A very important point to add is that we will continue to be open throughout this entire process. We will still have wine tastings, ample parking, and facilities available until the project is completed.
The picture above shows the current progress, as of July 28, 2022. As you can see, the crew built a “temporary” roof to tie in the current building to the newer building in order to deflect rain until they can return start phase 2.
If all goes well, we will be making and ageing wine in the new production facility within a few weeks, and celebrating a fully completed project later on this year!
Both stories of the “retail” side will be for the customer experience: inside seating, wrap around porch with vineyard views, lots of shade, spiral staircase, and multiple restrooms. This will not only allow us to be open more months in the year, but also more space for private rental space for your events! Not to mention two operating bars with lots of room to roam around for our bigger events throughout the season.
Needless to say, we are super excited to share our passion of growing grapes and making wine with you in a big, beautiful new space.
